Welcome to my blog – the space that I turn to when the words won’t leave my head.
I used to have a parenting blog called Making Mountains but after five years my kids grew up, so I decided to shut that down and keep those early memories private for them. Now I blog less often, but still wanted somewhere to share my writing, whether it’s a piece on style, wellness, family, books, travel or anything else.
My day job is being one half of content and copywriting agency Black Mountain with my business partner Catherine Black. In my personal capacity, my writing has been published in newspapers, magazines and online, from Sunday Times Neighbourhood to Glamour and Fast Company, to name a few. I’ve also recently had an essay included in a book called Living While Feminist, published by Kwela (March 2020).
Earlier in my career I worked in book publishing in both London and Johannesburg for companies such as Penguin, Harlequin and children’s publisher Walker Books. I’ve always been obsessed with the elegance, usefulness and power of the written word.
Although this isn’t a commercial blog, I may occasionally work with selected brands – but I will always make that clear. If I don’t note a collaboration, then I’m just mentioning that thing because I like it, and think you might too.
Thanks for visiting, but most importantly, for reading.
