When I’m not writing books, or working with clients to help them craft their stories, I write in a freelance capacity for magazines, websites and newspapers.

Here are some recent highlights:

Travelling is a passion of mine so I loved writing about one of my recent favourite destinations (Slovenia) in the May/June 2023 edition of FairLady magazine (above).

How do you survive (and thrive) in the European winter if you come from sunnier climes? Some top lifestyle tips that have helped me, plus how to build a community in a new country, published in a regular column I write for I Am Expat.

Entrepreneurship feature in March/April 2024 issue of Fairlady magazine: What makes South African business owners unique? My latest piece in the print edition of the magazine unpacked some valuable character traits.

In the Sunday Times, Catherine and I write about the inspiration behind we wrote our book, plus our top tips on marketing your small business.

Which traits make for a good marketer? After two decades in the industry, here are a few I think pack a punch (including some that may surprise you).

Interviewing interesting people is a perk of the job, and in this article on News24 I profile astrophysicist turned furniture manufacturer, Maria Kapala.

I also loved interviewing Dr Coceka Mfundisi in this article for News24, and finding out more about her incredible career as a neurosurgeon.

 

Covering travel and food topics in the Sunday Times for a few years was a dream come true – I got to review new restaurants , go on picnics in The Winelands, and stay at some amazing hotels and guesthouses.

What’s the best writing tip I ever received? I reflected on mine in this recent writing competition hosted by the SA Writers College.

Sometimes I write about technology too, and this piece in Fast Company covers The Internet of Things.
